He held various positions in public administration, such as director of the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, secretary of Culture of the Municipality of São Paulo, special advisor to the State Secretariat for Culture, secretary of Support for Cultural Production at the Ministry of Culture, president of Embrafilme, president of the Memorial da América Latina Foundation and curator of the Mercosul Visual Arts Biennials in Porto Alegre. He sits on the boards of Fundação Padre Anchieta, Fundação Bienal de São Paulo and the European Institute of Design.

Adriano Pedrosa has held the position of Artistic Director of MASP since 2014. Before that, he was deputy curator of the 24th Bienal de São Paulo in 1998, curator of the Pampulha Art Museum in Belo Horizonte in 2000-2003, co-curator of the 27th Bienal of São Paulo in 2006, curator of InSite_05 (San Diego Museum of Art, Centro Cultural Tijuana in 2005), artistic director of the 2nd San Juan Triennial in 2009, curator of the 31st Panorama of Brazilian Art (MAM-SP, 2009), co -curator of the 12th Istanbul Biennial, and curator of the São Paulo pavilion at the 9th Shanghai Biennale in 2012. In 2023, Adriano received the prestigious Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence from Bard College and, in 2024, will be the next curator of the 60th International Exhibition of Art at La Biennale di Venezia.
